Background:

Locally, Dragon Boat racing has been around since 1950s and is gaining momentum and popularity in the last few years. Dragon Boat racing for the first time ever has been included in the coming November 2010 Asian Games which will be held in Guangzhou, China. To celebrate the progress we have made over the past decades, we would like to encourage more schools / colleges / companies to participate in the sport, as well as to reward those who participate regularly in dragon boat.

Benefits of the sport:

Dragon Boating is an excellent sport which strongly promotes the important life values of teamwork, discipline, racial harmony, physical fitness and mental toughness. Our students / team members should be given more opportunity to enjoy the intrinsic benefits of this sport and at the same time be acknowledged and rewarded for good performance. As such, PIDBF would strongly like to urge the schools / colleges / companies to consider forming their own dragon boat teams.

Conclusion

With the intrinsic benefits of the sport, PIDBF hopes that more schools / colleges / companies will come forward to support this programme and together we will develop this sport and bring Dragon Boating to greater heights.
